​Corten

​Corten steel is an alloy steel with increased resistance to weather conditions.
Its full name is Cor-Ten steel, and the name comes from the English words
‘corrosion resistance’ and ‘tensile strength’.
Corten steel contains copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus, which provide
better corrosion resistance compared to traditional steel alloys. The colour 
of this steel is distinctive because, after a period of exposure to the air, 
it becomes covered with a characteristic rust that creates unique patterns 
on its surface. Corrosion resistance is provided by a rust patina coating, 
which is a natural protection against further corrosion.
